EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:

Software-defined wide area network (SD-WAN) is seeing a sudden spike in popularity. It’s considered a next-generation networking solution. 

Half of UK businesses report that SD-WAN is the cloud security tool of choice. In a survey of 750 decision-makers, 23% stated that they’ve already deployed SD-WAN, while 51% state that they are currently deploying it or that they intend to do so within the year.

Decision-makers say that SD-WAN has improved their overall connectivity, and increased network flexibility and agility. 

How SD-WAN adoption varies by industry:

• The largest overall shift to SD-WAN has occurred within the financial services industry.

• In the EMEA region, the largest consumers of SD-WAN technologies appear to be construction and property groups.

• SD-WAN adoption is comparatively low among public sector groups, although 36% are in the midst of deployment, or intend to deploy it shortly.
