- Complexity. Ninety-two percent of cyber security professionals state that IT complexity makes supporting current organizational functions a challenge. For CISOs securing remote workers, point solutions could be problematic. Consolidated solutions are more scalable and more reliable.
- Aged solutions. Many point solutions were developed in an era when the cyber security landscape didn’t pose as many threats. For point solution vendors that do provide updates and patching, it’s incumbent upon organizations to actually install the updates. With somewhere between 16 to 70 point solutions, how can organizations possibly keep up? This creates potential for security gaps and corresponding breaches.
- Talent shortage. The dearth of cyber security professionals means that, despite interest in hiring, organizations may not be able to attract skilled employees who can contend with a complex array of point solutions. Organizations may settle for hiring less experienced talent, and with that, security success requires reducing the complexity of workloads.
