EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:

With the amount of data breaches reported this year, there is no doubt a certain extend of numbing to the news. But it seems worth reporting when a data breach is shut down before hackers can make off with the goods.

Dell Inc said today that an attempted data breach on November 9 prompted it to reset all customer passwords for its online electronics store.

Reuters reports that hackers had breached Dell’s network, in an attempt to steal customer names, email addresses, and passwords. However, the incident was detected and stopped. Investigators have not seen any signs that data was compromised.

According to Dell, hackers were not trying to grab payment information or identification numbers.
