EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:

After ABN Amro and ING banks were hit by Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks during this past weekend, Rabobank became the third Dutch bank to be attacked, on Monday. In addition, the Netherlands national tax office was also caught in the cross hairs.

The DDoS attacks flooded the financial institutions with traffic, to overwhelm their servers and cause their websites to crash. As a result, services were not available to customers.
