New details surrounding reports of Russian cyberattacks on the US election system show hackers hit systems in 39 states. From trying to delete or alter voter data, to meddling with software to be used by poll workers on Election Day, to accessing a campaign finance database, the scope of the election hacking appears to be far reaching. Moreover, as Bloomberg reports, the latest details “paint a worrisome picture for future elections: The newest portrayal of potentially deep vulnerabilities in the U.S.’s patchwork of voting technologies.”
