EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Unknown malware stole documents from Emmanuel Macron’s campaign in the French presidential election, but failed to sway the election because of preemptive measures put in place using “cyber deception.” According to experts, the cyber attack that stole the documents likely was a spearphishing attack using an attachment containing malware not detected by the advanced threat prevention systems in place.
